for those of you who took ccna AND inet

I was wondering, for anyone that did ccna and inet, which one was easier... I heard somewhere that inet is easier than ccna and that if I did ccna, then all I would need to do is get a exam cram book to review the stuff... any truth to this? does the same apply to net+?

Yep. i-Net+ is much more basic than CCNA and 2/3 of the exam objectives has been covered by Network+.

I've only used Cramsession study notes for the exam.

Havent taken either - but I'm 99.5% sure CCNA is harder than I-Net+

keosk10 I am taking the liberty of replying even though I don't have my i+ yet... sorry.

I think everyone will agree that CCNA is the more difficult of the two tests.

I have passed Network+ and CCNA, and all I am using to prepare for i-Net+ is the Exam Cram book by Weiss/Dulaney and a practice test program (plus any free questions/exam articles I can find to read over). I feel fully confident of passing, and I'll find out for sure in less than two weeks.

Yeah, i+ study has been simpler than CCNA. Some of the same topics are covered, but not in such detail. Some topics are completely new and unique to i+... That's what the book is for though

I believe now that I could have passed Network+ with only light study if I had done it after CCNA. However, my Cisco studies would have just been that much harder. Net+ gives you a great foundation of knowledge for CCNA (at least, if you study for it right).

I don't know which is easier (yet) -- Net+ or i-Net+. I think they shoot to be equally difficult, only in some different areas. But they are complimentary, when combined, since there is some overlap.

My advice: If you have your CCNA, still use at least one book and one practice test program for each (PREP, Transcender, ExamDrill). Then go forth and certify!

To rank them in order of difficulty:

I-Net+
Net+
CCNA

If I were to suggest an order to study and take all three:
Net+
i-Net+
CCNA

There is a great overlap between i-Net and Net+. I would consider Net+ to be a stepping stone to CCNA.

I suggest taking Net+ before i-Net+ because much of what you need to memorize for Net+ will carry over to i-Net+ and if you've got some networking and internetworking skills, you could wrap up the i-Net+ within a week or two after Net+.

Just my humble opinion

ok thanks for the help, but I sort of just jumped into CCNA at school with their academy program.. which I find to be VERY easy.. I've done a lot of this stuff before w/ my network at home, etc.. so I'm guessing that I probably won't have a problem? I will check into those exam prep books.

I've taken both!!

I'll have to agree with everyone CCNA is harder than i-Net+ but with your background you'll have no problem!!

interesting question. To me, the CCNA took 5 days of class. I started my studies on Monday, and took the test that Friday afternoon at 2PM.
The Inet+ I read the book at the store the night before and took the test the next day at noon.

The CCNA is by far a much more complex exam, not to mention that the passing grade is 849/1000!

I'm taking in order:

NET+
I-Net+
CCNA

P.S. I'm already an MCSE and a CNA
