What was the last change you did?
Any new SW installed? Any change in configuration?
Or else is it a new installation?
How many domains? how many post boxes?
IF you have a firewall, just temporarily disable it and see if the mails are going.
It is very difficult to tr. shoot from the information you provided.

sorry I all is not clear the facts are
1.Mail can be sent externally and gets to the site in unreaderble text.
2. No mail can bee seen in any of the post boxex 1-7 in this case 4 for normal mail
3. I have been told that on changes have been made only 1 user created and 1 deleted!!!
4. They have no backup at all( can you beleive this!!!)
5 It appears the main mailbox may have been deleted. I think groupwise may need to be reinstalled to recreate main postbox and then test all users????

Hi
It is very difficult to believe that nothing was changed. Creating a user and deleting is not an issue.
I guess somebody tampered with.
(1) Did you try to do the test bypassing the firewall?
(2) In any case, make a study of installing GW. Refer to a good GW book. And inform them that it is virtuallly impossible to get their old mails, settings etc. Make them understand this . Otherwise, even after reinstall GW and make everything work, fingers will be pointed at you accusing they missed all their old emails.
(3) Reinstall GW. (If you have no experience, install NW in a good faster PC and install GW and test. Then install in the live system.
(4) Recommend a good backup system. It is NOT a choice, but a must.
