I am just north of San Diego up in South Orange County - Overall the job market is really not that bad here in Calif. You might want to hook up with some technical placement agencies in your area once you land. That way you can try a variety of companies to see what you like or don't like. Personally, I enjoy working for the smaller start up companies 'cause it gets me lots of hands on experience and very little corporate BS.

However, the market seems to be flooded with candidates that flash those certificates all over their resume and cover letter, so be prepared for some tough interviews. You may be asked more technical questions or even asked to demonstrate some of your knowledge with simulated exams, etc. The hiring practices... they are a changin'
