CIW-Worth it??
Is this certification even worth anything anymore? I mean with all the dead dot.com's, it seems that this cert won't have much use, especially for newbies.
Maybe it is best to look into .XML and Sun Java.
Some say that the CIW is handed out like candy.
Comments welcome

This cert is not popular right now, but give it time - I think any cery is worth getting, if you want to go to this kind of field anyways
Just my opinion

I'm new to this forum, but I think that the CIW certification is worth getting. I learned a lot of helpful things while studying for the Foundations exam, and I plan to continue with the Enterprise Developer track. As long as you are learning, it's worth it.

I had to work hard to get my M CIW SD and I know there are other people out there who will have the same opinion.
The only way they give the exam away is by passing CompTIA's i-Net+ and this will only gain you entry at Associate level (Foundation and will cost $95) and I don't think this is classed as giving it away.
If you look at the exam details the languages you mentioned are covered in one of the Master levels.
My opinion - but I might be bias!!

Just for your info..
I have the mciwd and scjp and ibm's xml certifications amongs other things on my resume but still can't get any interviews for almost a year now(new york location).
If there is one thing I learned from getting certified is no matter what certification you gonna get, chances are it won't make much difference.
other things like persistance, contacts etc are much more important...
