Arrow MCSP - Microsoft Certified Security Professional

So, how long do you think it will take till Microsoft jumps onto the security certification bandwagon?

If any one company were to have a black face when it coems to security, it would be MS, so you think they will come out iwth a security specific suite of certs to get a new title?

Cisco has one, their CSS specialization, and several others. 3rd party training solutions are providing windows security certs, ie: SANS.

Right now, MS only has 2 security specific MCP exams, ISA Server, and the more general "security" exam. Maybe MS should come out with a full featured security analsysis program/policy creation program and give it, its own cert (kinda like how IEAK has its own cert)

Or do you think it would be better if Win2k MCSE's who took the 2 security certs, plus maybe one more 'new' security cert, could label themselves as an MCSE +S ?

Ideas?

Security

Obviously you have little knowledge of Microsoft products. You definitely don't choose to go with Microsoft products if you are security concious or intelligent. Microsoft just is not and will never be known for security. MCSP would be a joke.

Atleast, that's my two cents. If you are concerned about security, try OpenBSD.

Not everyone is intelligent Mr Ruiner20. I work for one of hte big 5 firms as a security analyist consultant and we have SEVERAL clients who use ISA in favour of checkpoint or any of the other big name firewall vendors.

Wasn't the latest report last month showing that IIS is still gaining ground in teh web server market place? It's around 30 or so percent if i recall correctly.

So why are those 30% not using apache? thats a question that im not trying to debate here, but what I am asking is how long people think MS will take to come out with a security based cert, so that in order to 'secure' your windows network, you would need to employ a certified microsoft security expert.

OpenBSD is not a solution in every case.

somthing to think about.

Well, to tell you the truth, if you take an out-of-the-box OpenBSD system, and you take an out-of-the-box Windows-based system, without any other software installed, or anything configured regarding security, the MS box will be more secure, purely because of the open-source nature of OpenBSD.

There is no such thing as a "secure OS", that is why there are security officers and admins actually doing the whole security thing, so you see, no matter what OS you using, it will always be vulnerable...it is just up to you and your security personell to determine exactly HOW vulnerable.

btw, I think MCSP would be a good idea, because no matter what you say, MS has a reputation in the certification market, and even if people got it just because it is an MS cert, they would have succeeded. btw, someone has to secure those new IIS severs!

Just my 2 cents worth of dribble.

dribble

Well, my friend, your post was most definitely dribble as you described it. Let me enlighten you: OpenBSD is secure out of the box. It is the most secure operating system out of the box. Blah, go to http://www.openbsd.com/. Better yet, email me and I'll give you an account on my OpenBSD machine and I'll give you a thousand dollars if you can get root. And better yet, I'll give you ten thousand dollars if you can hack root that isn't HIGHLY disabled. Blah. Microsoft being more secure than OpenBSD out of the box? Put down the crackpipe and go get a clue. Btw, I think you should read about OpenBSD before you open your mouth about it. I'm sure this post is the first time you've had to talk about it.

You are an idiot. That is all I have to say. With a closed-mind like yours, you really need to stick with your Microsoft products. I hate people like you.

BLAH BLAH

Quit whining.

We all know soon Microsoft will be out of business and all of us MS guys wont have any jobs. All you ever hear on this board anymore is how horrible MS is and how they cant do this or that. If you stopped to take a look around you'd realize that the reason most of us have jobs is because of what Mr Gates has done for the industry(both good and bad). So quit your bitching.
