Wink Then and Than

I have noticed in many postings the improper use of the words "Then" and "Than". These get confused almost as much as "Effect" and "Affect".
"Then" is an adverb. Straight from Webster's, we read its meaning: Next in time, space, or order; immediately afterward.
Used in a sentence : I will study my butt off for the exam THEN go take it.
"Than" is a conjunction. Also, straight from Webster's, we read its meaning: Used after a comparative adjective or adverb to introduce the second element or clause of an unequal comparison.
Used in a sentence: I would rather watch Monday Night Football THAN study for another Microsoft test.
Am I the grammer king? NO. Just wanted the people that read this forum to be aware of the differences.

Yes, and I think people have them same problem with knowing the difference between "congragulations" and "congratulations". Are we all imbeciles here???

P.S. "grammer" is not spelled "grammer", but "grammar" (not to be confused with gramma, of course!).

Cool Yup

Yes, i purposely misspelled "grammar" to show that I am not the spelling and grammar king. Notice the context in which it was used.

Than and then is easy, but could you explain when to use who, and when to use whom? I've always had problems with that.

Cool Who did what to whom?

Who is asking and to whom do I need to reply? Who is the subject of referral you are making reference to and whom is an object for which a reference is made. of course, i always thought "whom" is what the Buddhist monks murmured when they meditated..you know - "whoommmmm". It's a sick and twisted world I live in, but it's MY sick and twisted world.
