More tests better?

How beneficial is it to take more test beyond your MCSE.
I know it shows up on the transcript but is it worth paying the buck for all those tests when you are already MCSE?

Thumbs up More Tests

Do you mean more MS exams or other qualifications. If you are satisfied with being a MCSE then there is no need to take more exams.

I have taken (and passed) 19 MS Exams and I will continue to study for those I have not yet taken.

You may feel this is a bit of an overkill but I have earned MCSE (2000), MCSD and MCDBA and will do MCSA when it is available.

I have also taken CCNA, CIW Site Designer, CIW E-Commerce, A+, i-Net+. I am currently studying to complete CCNP.

This has given me a wide spectrum of all the systems out there and hopefully will land me that plum job where most of it is spent on the golf course!!

I don't know about other people but I complain like hell when I'm studying, think why I am I doing this? But once I finish I feel have have nothing to do so I pick up the next book and start all over again!!

The morale of this is "if you are happy with your lot, stick to it!"

Look at my motto below it says it all!!

I would like as many certifications as possible but I was wondering if it is beneficial to take more Microsoft tests that do not gain you anymore certifications.
For example, If I had an MCSE and I take the Exchange 2000 exam I'm still an MCSE and the only change is that the test is added on my MS Transcript. I have an interest in more of the MS Electives than I need to take but I am wondering if it is worth taking all those "extra" test to just have them added to my transcript.

Cool More tests

If you want exams to give you MCSD or MCDBA go to the following sites to see which exams you want to take towards these packages:

www.microsoft.com/traincert/mcp/mcsd/requirements.asp

or

www.microsoft.com/traincert/mcp/mcdba/requirements.asp

Choose the exams you do not already have and see what's left!

You will see that some exams count in both MCSD and MCDBA subject areas.

Hope this helps

Thumbs up You've got it in one

Yes, your right on this fact. You will have also seen that other exams fit the same bill (070-228 and 070-229).

If you look at MCSE and MCDBA requirements you could actually complete both these doing 7 exams instead of 9 (something I didn't know until I had completed MCSE!)

Hope this helps

"I would like as many certifications as possible but I was wondering if it is beneficial to take more Microsoft tests that do not gain you anymore certifications"

Why? What benefit do you hope to acheive?

Thumbs up More Tests

quote:
"Why? What benefit do you hope to acheive?"

Why?

1. I would rather know a system inside out than parts of one.

2. To further my knowledge.

3. To show future employers that I am qualified in a various range of subjects.

4. To show that I can do more than one job therefore more employable.

5. Certificates are paper, knowledge is indispensable!

Does this answer your question

what he meant was, why take a test that will not get you any more little letters, because otherwise youre just shellin out 100$ to prove you can pass a test .. well what you want to do is what you want to do, but i would tend to agree with that other poster.. but that was a nice go get'em, impress the interviewer post .. .. .. . ..
