It must be true, I read the same thing in my ExamCram's.com insider newsletter. I'm thinking (85% sure )that I would like to study for my CCNA. Now I'm not sure ?

I don't understand. I am studying for the CCNA too and I am not sure how this effects me?
Any insight would be appreciated.

CCNA Retirement
Yes it is true! Both CCNA and CCNP are both going to be retired.
All the facts about the replacement exams can be found at www.comptia.com
Have Microsoft taken over CompTIA (for retiring exams) or is this just another ploy to get us to spend even more money on updating our qualifications?
I think I'll kick CCNP into touch for the time being and wait for the new exams!

I didn't see anything on the Cisco link posted above which infers that anything other than the CCNA and CCNP WAN switching tracks are being retired. Since the WAN switching courses aren't hugely popular compared to the routing and switching ones, this isn't going to affect anything like the number of people it would first appear.
What did compTIA's site have to say about it? I couldn't see anything there, and i'm not 100% sure what they'd have to do with the Cisco certifications anyway, considering that they offer their own (A+, network+, et cie.)
Hopefully, the CCIE courses won't be touched; there's a memo on cisco's site about that which i'm browsing through now.
Cheers,
Sid

oops
Regardless, it seems that the CCIE R/S is safe according to the blurb I just read at cisco's site.
I'll try and find out more about the CCNA/CCNP. I find it incredibly hard to believe that they would phase out the 2.0 certifications when Cisco Press only published the study guides earlier this year.
Makes the head spin.

Did some checking on CCNA/WAN, CCNA/WAN is a speciality area dealing mainly with wide area networks. The test # for that is 640-410, the test # for CCNA is 640-507. So that means people who want to still get CCNA certified can. Unless you were interested in WAN Switching. Hope this helps.

So I can continue studying for the CCNA exam right? The WAN test is separate?
Yep, completely. CCNA/WAN is a specialisation focussed on configuring Cisco's somewhat bizarre WAN switching products. I had a look at some of the practice exams for this test and it's completely different to a regular CCNA.
Ditto for CCNP/WAN.
Considering that Cisco only released version 2.0 of CCNA/CCNP less than a year ago, I feel it would be quite silly of them to phase them out now.
