If you are trying to get into the Oracle job market, you can forget about being a DBO. It's a lot like being an MCP - you passed one test, big whoop. No one looks for a DBO just as no one looks for an MCP. It's a lot like saying you have a certficate for graduating from kindergarten.
If you are trying to get a help desk/tech support kind of job that requires some basic knowledge of database operations, then obtaining a DBO certification may be of some use to you as a bullet on your resume.
DBO is going away (already gone for all practical purposes). In conjunction with the release of Oracle9i, there is a new designation for an associate and a master. The OCP designation is in the middle. The associate thing is supposed to be announced/released in January. Look at www.dbdomain.com for more info.

Yes, the DBO exam/cert is being retired. This is from Oracle's web site (http://www.oracle.com/education/cer...l?o8retire.html)
On March 31, 2002, the Oracle Certified Database Administrator and Database Operator exams based on Oracle8 will be retired. All OCP Candidates pursuing their Oracle8 DBA or DBO certification will have until March 31, 2002 to complete the required core Oracle8 exams.

IDBO
IMHO The Internet DBO is a minor cert... A good feather in the cap type thing. I got mine just for that reason. It's not why I primarily do. I wanted to take a weakness and make it reasonably strong.
peace...
