9i fears
Ok. Im still in the middle of my 8i dba cert, and I probably have a few months to go to get the entire package done. 9i is becomming widly popular in lots of big companies, and I dont want to get stuck with a retired cert, then have to upgrade.
somebody fill me in. Thanks.
any info on 9i upgrades would also be appreciated (number of test to take, new info from 9i, etc)

I'm also in the middle of my certs, but at the moment I have no fear that 8i retires in a few months. Actually you can't even find cramsessions for most of the 8i exams in internet. Do you know anybody who already upgraded to 9i?
I heard (also from Oracle people) that the use of 9i is only "experimental" at the moment. Why should a company switch to 9i if 8i works properly and the database is supported? In my company we upgrade fom 7.3.4 to 8.1.7 at the end of this year because we get a new box. I would never upgrade to 9i on a production database until there is at least 9.1.5 available.
There will be an 9i upgrade exam, but about 400 new features to know! So I guess it would be the best to take the 9i upgrade straight after the last 8i exam to archive both certs !
Look at oracle-OLN, there are trial courses about 9i to get a first feeling...
.. ok, back to B/R again!

Hey Robocop, i thought you dont really care much about Certs? You mentioned in a previous thread that - "In the real world certs dont mean jack sh1t! Its all about experience!"
Here's the link:

So why changed your mind? You are suddenly so afraid of getting behind in certs. Well my advice to you my friend is "Dont be so arrogant and Self-Righteous put your Balls where it should be and study for your remaining exams. 8i is not being retired by Oracle you should be able to finish if you put your act together!"
Besides, "Experience" is what really counts in the real world not the version of your cert! Now "you make certs sound like a religion or something" - sounds familiar? of course the words came straight from your big mouth!
