electrical engineering and electronics degrees are not IT degrees

2 year CIS degrees are not real IT degrees

online IT degrees are not real IT degrees

real IT degrees = 4 or 5 years CIS/computer-science degrees

One's salary depends on various factors:

* your age
* your experience
* education
* your personal profile
* the position
* your success in negotiating a salary (!!)
* market needs and saturation

If you have a degree and work in an entry level support position you won't have much salary, but it's easier to get the job. After 3-5 years of experience a degree becomes less important. Also a degree without experience is worth nothing after some years.

I don't have a degree, but I was at University and studied business for some years. I have about 12 years of experience with in IT/Organisation, project management, developement ... in an interview I'm not asked about degrees, only about concrete references, projects and experiences.

Not to spoil your little party yyx, but INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY is not COMPUTER SCIENCE. Why do you think they call it "COMPUTER SCIENCE"? I don't know how you come up with such an erroneous statement. Also, 4-5 years experience? Perhaps you'd better get an understanding of the current definitions of what Information Technology & Computer Science are today, before making such incomprehensible statements. Your post insults many people working in the IT industry today. I also feel your statement to be irresponsible, and rediculously exaggerated.

Red face

What are your assets apart from rudeness and ignorance, yyx?

I can see none in your profile ...

I wish you good luck for the future with your "social" skills, you'll certainly need it!

IT degrees

It is good idea to get Oracle Developer 6i cert along with a 4 year CS or related (MIS, CIS, etc..) degree to get your foot in the door. The certification together with the 4 year degree will set you apart from the rest, particularly if you have no experience.
