I have passed LPIC Level 1
Hi all,
After I have passed LPI 101 last month, I passed LPI 102 last week. It is not an easy game, and you must pay more attention in networking issues. The book I have used in this exam is:
LPI General Linux II: Exam 102 Exam Cram.
It is worth to study, but it doesn't cover everything in the exam. I also study with RHCE Study Guide by Sybex, I have found that there is some topics related to LPI 102 Exam. Moreover, I studied a lot of HOW-TO document, e.g. Kernel How-to, Networking How-to, etc. and use exam note in this site.
I suggest to download the exam objective from LPI and study guilded by it. Don't try to find one book which cover all materials for this exam, because I have tried, but I failed.
In my exam, there are total 63 questions in 90 minutes. The distribution is listed as follows:
20-25 questions about networking, the command like route, netstat, ping, nslookup, etc.
8-10 questions about RPM & dkpg, you need to know the meaing of each option & switch. (please don't just remember -i, -e, etc, you need to know --install, --setudgids, etc.)
5-7 questions about kernal, you need to know lilo, make, Makefile, etc.
5-8 questions about X. The XF86Config file is the most important you should know.
2-3 questions about printing. lpr, lprm, lpc command should be known.
5-6 questions about Apache, DNS, FTP, sendmail, NFS server. Remind yourself about the deamon and configure file of each server
2-3 questions about VI editors. Please make sure you know each standard command (e.g. :q, :w, O, a, i, etc)
That's all. Good luck!
P.S.: If anyone want to know more about LPI 101 exam, please let me know. I will post my experience of this exam to you.

Congrats!
What is the passmark for 101 and 102 and what are number of questions for 101? Also, any info on LPI 101 would be great as I am writing it tomorrow!
Thanks!

congrats on the pass.
Are you plan to go for LPIC-L2?
Frankly speaking, the commands being tested in LPIC-L1 is seldom used. I almost forgot how to use those commands after I passed the test.
Hope that this will not happen in LPIC-L2!
Dominic
