What is ....
I am new to Linus and Unix so I'd like to know as far as future is concerned what is going to gain wide popularity, or use between Linux and Unix. My understanding is that Unix is more powerful, so is it always going to be in demand?

From the outside UNIX and Linux look almost exactly alike. UNIX code was written by Ken Thompson in 1970 and has been in development ever since. Linux was written by Linus Torvalds in 1991 . . . the two OS's have completely different code, but in performance they are similar, although UNIX wins in nearly all counts, except for ease of use. Still, if you know one, you more or less know the other. There are differences, but for the most part they will not seem that big to a user. Most people consider Linux as a variant of UNIX.

Well, if I had to pick, I would say UNIX, but once you know UNIX, you still know 80% of Linux. Learn one and you automatically know most of the other.
