Question sending large file attachments

I have Exchange 2000 set up, with client PC's using Outlook 2000 to read their email via the Exchange. A client attempts to send a 5 mb file attachment to an external internet email address and the email is returned (presumably the isp smtp will only allow a max file size)

Is there any way to get outlook 2000 to break apart the message automatically into smaller more managable sizes?
