Question Question about Self-Study

Has anybody taken the CIW exams by just doing the Self-Study? I'm wondering if that's enough material to pass the exams. Thanx

From what I could tell, it looks like the same material as the courseware, but I'm not positive. The class went so fast that I felt like that I didn't learn enough. After studying on my own, I failed the Foundations test last December and haven't had the nerve of taking it again. Tonight, I saw the new study materials available. I may get the study CD and see what happens.

Tim

All I used was the study guides from examnotes.com ciwcram.com and cert21.com as well as purchasing the practice exam from cert21.com........

I took the test after studying for about 1 week and passed the exam without a problem.

For this exam, the cert21 exams seemed to really help as I seemed to know the answer to every question and only got 1 wrong. (which question is an absolute mystery to me)

also check out the forums at ciwcram.com, people there note down what questions they got and what you should concentrate on.

I think it depends on whether you want to learn the material or whether you already know most of it and just want to past the test.

If you really want to learn it, then you probably shouldn't just rely on doing the practice test over and over.....

Just my 2c + gst

I guess, it also depends on your experience with the subject, If you are completely new to the subject, it is better to have some formal training and hands-on. Again this is my personal opinion.

Hope this helps and wish you all the best.

Hey, Thanks for the advice!

I just found out about this forum and thought it was really helpful. I'll be sure to check out the practice exams and other people's notes, etc.

Thanx again.

I took a class for Foundation, but did not for Site Design or E-Comm, but passed all three. I did have the courseware for both SD and EComm though. For SD, I did lots of practice designing webpages and relied a lot on cert21, examnotes and cramsession notes as well as on practice tests. If you are determined, you can do it! Good luck
