Finished the test at 7:30pm tonight. Got a 733 on my first try. (The guy next to me was taking Server, he got a 733 out of a minimum of 777, he failed. Felt bad for him:-( Since I don't regularly use NT Workstation, that was a strike against me, and I really didn't start learning about NT WRKST, until Oct 10th. But I read my *** off and last week on Tue. I realized that I would almost certainly fail my exam that was scheduled for last Fri. Dec. 1. So I made up about 70 flash cards and went over them, and I was stunned that within 2 days, I memorized about 50 of em, solidly. So then I was feeling a lot more confident, and went back on-line and used some of the CD practice tests. On some I barely passed, on one, I barely failed. So I studied some more, and by the grace of god, I passed tonight.

But now some thoughts and questions I have. The test was 'easier' that I thought. 35 questions, multiple choice and simulation questions. If was given an Adaptive test, I WOULD OF BEEN TOTALLY SCREWED, and I know I would of failed. The topics that I wasn't 100% strong on, I really expected to surely see on the test tonight. I was expecting a lot about NetWare stuff, ARC naming problems; but nothing. The stuff I still wasn't 100% sure on, was RAS multi linking w/ ISDN, and of course the question was on the test. I probably screwed up the unattend install questions.

But anyway, my questions(worries)are this:
Since I barely passed this first exam that is considered the easiest NT 4 test, I'm worried that there is not enough time left in to be prepared to take the Server & Enterprise exams within the next 25 days.

Well my real final question is does anyone out there who has taken all 3 test, think its anywhere realistically possible to pass the last two exams before they are retired?

I can't wait to hear what you think. Thanks a lot

Courtney Regan, MCP!!

Hi zootv1,

It is possible to pass the exams, but it is also possible to fail the exams ,bit glib but if someone else is paying for all this then that's groovy - go ahead and do them...even if you don't pass you'll learn a lot in the process. Bear in mind that the first retest can be done immediately but a second retest can't be done within fourteen days of the first. So with a twenty five day deadline you'll have to get them right first time.

You will get questions on connecting Novell to NT in the server exam...and questions on RAS.

If you intend to pass these three to become eligible to take 70-240, bear in mind that rumour has 70-240 is a toughie. This close to the 31/12/00 deadline, and with an MCP status in NT you might be better advised to switch tracks altogether and work on the core 2000 exams. This would give you more time and wouldn't involve any more work than you are already doing.

Which ever you choose, good luck - and let us know how you get on.

S.

well courney i have taken server and server enterprise and let me tell you this..

server i passed with a 900 not that hard you want the easy way out I DONT RECOMMEND IT but if you are in a bind, i woould say that i only used transender and examcram and 75-80% of the questions were on it i took server in 20 minutes and did not check my answers e should have but didnt.. easy way out memorize transender and examcram.. and use one more study guide.. know your struff alright.. take the test before the 14th if you fail you can take it the next day if you fail again you must wait till the 29th or so so decide for your self what is best.. why not try it if you dont mind blowing 100.00 and see..

The one to be concerned about is enterprise i as well as several other experts have taken this bad boy and faild 2x goto the 70068 form and scroll down to the 2 or thired page and read some of the comments in their about the test this test is no joke i used the same method as abouve and scored a 688.. you need a 777 to pass.. i have studied for this one for 1.5 months and i am still a little nervous iwill write it for my 3x of friday 8th if i fail i get one more chance.. if i fail that then screw it i am MCP and that will have to be good enough to get me a job.

the diffenrenc with server and server enterprise is that server is strait forward no real tricks to worry about but enterprise they have several tricks the use you must read each line 2x just to understand what the questions is asking.. it seams like thay take trans exam cram and the dump questions and change 1 word in it.. so to sum it all up the server is no problem the enterprise is..

I would agree with shtumu, if you dont mind spending at least 300.00 bucks then why not and try them at least you may pass.. have you taken net essent.. those are the 4 core you must take out by dec 31.

know to answer your question relisitly you have a 50/50 shot at passing these things the problem is you have no time to study.. i would do this,, Take server first, take enterprise second because it has 50% of the questions from server on it the only differnce is enterprise is maily trusts.. take server ASAP and study like hell for enterprise. use the advice given in 70068 form there is a lot of info in there.. take net ess last..

good luck and if all esle fails at least you are MCP take care

It can be done courtney but it will take a lot of study and hard work. If you have any questions or topics you are not sure about in either server/ enterprise then post them on here and people will endeavor to answer them.

By the way if most of the stuff from workstation has stuck in your mind then from my experience you are nearly half way there.

Give it a try and also try out the on line exams at www.mcsefreak.com. You will find them usefull as I did.

Anyways good luck

Cool

Hi to all!

I just like to reasure some people so they dont start paniking!

It is possible to become MCSE qualified in just 1 month! yes! 1 month! How you may ask?

Well just pure hard study and a schedule of those who go into a intense MCSE Course and believe me when i say these people go in for 2 weeks and they come out passing!

I know what your gonna say, "they cant possible know NT 4.0 Practically", maybe not! but they sure knew how to pass the exam which shows knowledge of NT comes 1st then your practical experience of it, but hey! If you have both you've got no probs!

I just wanna wish the best to all those of you out there who are in this route of study, it takes determination and the will to succeed! Just Go For It! Go Go Go!!

Take care
