Just wanted to say hello to all. I am finally embarking on the road to MCSE 2000 and thought I would join the fun here and maybe pick up some of your hard earned knowledge. It looks like you guys have been hard at work already.
I am planning on starting with 2000 Prof. Any advice?

I bought the office Microsoft Press book for Win2k Pro from www.bookpool.com, and read it cover to cover. I can't say that I really *remember* anything from it, but I did. I also used the Win2K Pro Transcender, and I got the Win2K Pro cramsession from cramsession.brainbuzz.com. I studied all of this material, and passed with an 860. However, you *have* to have Win2k Pro installed on a machine somewhere within arm's reach to work with...MS is gearing their tests to where you have to have some hands-on experience with their products. If you've got Win2K Pro on a machine somewhere, and look at the above information, you should have no problems.

Thumbs up Good Advice

Thanks for the response! One of the great things about being in the IT industry is that you have access to lots of computers. I have three at my desk. One with NT Server 4.0, one with ME and 2000 Prof. And one with 2000 Advanced server. I was able to set up 2000 A.S. as a DMC and have it authenticate but I haven't done much more yet...

SuperGeekster,

Welcome to the group! From my own experience, this site is one of the best that is on the web for discussions. There's a ton of quality IT people here.

I mainly used this site when I was getting ready for the NT server exam and I truly believe it was one of the reasons why I scored as well as I did on that exam.

Welcome Folks!!!!
Glad to have you aboard. This is one of the most amazing places on the net. Feel free to ask any question and Someone will get back to you pretty fast. I am doing the MCSE thing myself and still have not worked up nerve enough to take this one. Freak, Yeti, Cadman to mention a few are all very helpful. (even the real world stuff, Cadman helped me fix a VPN problem in W2K a few weeks ago on the boards) So ask away and we will all try to help

Cool Hello as well!

After completing the CCNA and CCDA, I have decided to go back to Microsoft and complete the MCSE 2k.

The biggest factor in renewing my MCSE is that I am working on a Windows 2000 rollout project for the next year and figure it would do me well to get the MCSE 2k.

I have completed three NT 4.0 tests (Server, Workstation, Enterprise) but am electing NOT to take the accelerated exam. I would rather focus on each of the subjects then study the summary of all four exams. Not to mention I have heard that the test itself is rather difficult, and I would hate to devote a few months of trying to pass the accelerated exam only to fail on the one shot I have at it. So, all things considered, I will take the long way =) I would rather learn more than save money.

Anyhow, just thought I would post an initial message to this forum as well. I expect to be monitoring it a lot over the next month or so as I get ready for 70-210. Thanks in advance for any help that I will seek in the future!

Kvalhion
