Hello,
I failed on the NT4Wks exam last month. I needed a score of 700 and I had only...666! Very frustrating. I didn't have a lot of money to prepare this exam and I couldn't follow a classroom study. So I tried to find a good self study system. I chose LEARNKEY. I thought that the video system might be very good for me. Big mistake. The video, even very well done, is too basic. Most of it only concerning the superficial installation and use of NT4. There were some mistakes within their "challenge" section. Fortunately, they provide a Sybex study guide book, which I used mainly. Unfortunately, even if I passed the exams of the Learnkey and the book with scores between 90 and 98 %, I found myself completely lost in front of the real exam. The 1st question was already out of my studies! And several of them were absolutely not approached in the video, nor in the book. I didn't know it exists such good web site where it is possible to get some examples and help. So I booked for the beginning of octobre. I won't miss any possibility to visit web sites such as this one. Only in the simulated exam, I found questions similar to the test I had and where I didn't find any answer.
Thank you and I will try to catch and remember all the questions I will see and post them to this website.
Good luck to anyone!
(ps. please forgive my English. I am French...)

Marc,
Your english is good. Your spelling is good. Don't worry about that.
I really feel for you. I have the basic MS Text books, but even with those, I don't feel like I am getting the full picture. I have heard it mentioned that even the course materials don't cover everything that may be on the exam.
I have taken the classes, but I don't have any money for books or computers (to practice setting up a network). So, I am in a similar fix.
I can suggest another study site I found, ITTutor.com is pretty good, has lots of practice tests and some study material. Brain-dumps are supposed to be good, as well, but I haven't tried them yet. Have you looked on the Newgroups? If you can tolerate the bickering and hostility vented by some of the participants, there may be some resources available there.
I have also found a place to get some cheap Pentiums (if I can ever save the money to get a couple) off the internet.
You may be able to get some of the better books at your local library. The MCSE Study Guides are supposed to be the most recommended (and I hope the most accurate). You might try some used book stores or e-Bay. I saw some on e-bay pretty cheap the other day. Just make sure it's not out of date.
I know how hard it can be to do something like this when your options are limited by your cash-flow. I wish I had some better advice.
One other thought, you might see if there is a computer users group in your area... a club or organization. Some of the members might be able to share some resources with you.
Conlee

You don't need to spend a fortune. I used free study guides, free practice exams, one good book for each topic, discussion forums like this one and the brain dumps (at the end before you do the exam).
I just passed SITE today (620 - pass mark was 560) and did 3 others last week; Server (866), Workstation (900), Networking Essentials (866). Enterprise was by far the hardest!
Certainly a home network would be a great help but you can get away without one if you can get at least some hands on experience elsewhere.I've been working with networks for several years (mainly Netware recently) but have never had experience with the enterprise sized networks often used in the exams.
Stick to it and head for the free stuff
Fran

Hi Marc!
I found the following site most helpful for the exams. His notes are most comprehensive and easy to understand. Print it out for your study then go to the Internet to get all the practice tests you can find and practice, practice, practice till you score above 90% in all the tests before sitting for your final exam. I did that with Networking Essentials and passed with a score of 966.
Best of luck

I am getting ready to take this and already know I will have no problems-- you see, went with the strategy of taking Server and Enterprise FIRST...
Enterprise was by far the roughest one-- because they want you to APPLY your server knowledge. Knowing the material helped, but you have to KNOW how to use it.
Much of the stuff on these exams overlaps Workstation! and that's how I know I'm ready.
I only used Transcenders (forget them for Enterprise though) and Cramsession books and Notes on the web. Saw some braindumps - they weren't bad and they do prepare you for the line of questioning...
Good luck-- you'll pass it...

Learnkey and Viagraphics both need to remove thier products. They will not prepare you for any exams. We get alot of training software and theirs were the most pathetic. The price seems right, but you get what you pay for.
