You know, I am glad to see this. Although not very competitive myself, I think that these rivalries between the varieties of UN*X/Linux mainly foster innovation and creativity. As far as performance is concerned that is a big plus.

Yes it is. The non-Unix OSs aren't even close to the performance levels that Unix provides so it's up to the different variant to compete. Looks like the duplicate posting bug has struck again.

Well, I was using Netscape 6 at home for those other posts and I thought it may have been acting buggy, but it may have had something to do with the forum upgrades.

But I like the combination of copperation-competition that the Unix world provides. Most tech support that I have got has always been through lists and forums and not "professionals", and there seems to be a sense of community anout these products, but at the same time they are different enough to continually improve whereas a more monolithic structure like M$ or Novell seem to focus more on marketing than on individual creativity. Either way, it's good news for Unix junkies like me!
