Can someone pls tell me how similar are the 2. I have good understanding of SQL and was wondering how easy or difficult it would be to learn oracle

If you understand SQL well, you will not have a problem learning oracle. All databases work in the same way, just different bells and whistles. PL/SQL and Transact-SQL are very similar to each other.
