hey freak i couldn't connect to your site. Anyway quoting from MS; win 2000 and nt are the only operating systems that can access data on a local hard disk formatted with ntfs. However according to replies viewers said that a fat or fat32 could see a ntfs folder or file I'm confused. Can a fat or fat32 system read a ntfs file or folder? Can a ntfs system read a fat or fat32 system?

Windows 95/98/Me cannot access NTFS partitions without a third part app (driver). So, for all intens and purposes, the answer would be no. Other OSes can access NTFS on a limited basis, ie Linux.

The key here is locally. It's true that Windows 9x cannot see NTFS on if they are both on the same machine and you are logging in locally. However, if you are accessing a share on a Windows 2000 machine from a Windows 9x machine, then NTFS or not you will still be able to see the share.
