Greetings! I have been in PC/LAN support for 3 1/2 years now and have decided to pursue certifications to not only show off, but to increase my value. I have administered and installed a full NT 4.0 network, upgraded everything to Win2k back in May 2000, and installed new server equipment, so I'm not totally "green" anymore. I'm NOT A KNOW-IT-ALL kinda guy, but I'm working with the product on a daily basis, and have a home network/test lab. Anyhow, I'm studying for 70-210 now, using Windows2k Study Guide from Syngress/Osborne. I've stumbled across a strange topic, minimal requirements. There are variations between this book and MS's web site. Could someone PLEASE point me to the correct answer in determining the "right" answer for 70-210?? Also, I would like to comment on some threads that I recently read about Brian Dumps in this forum, I too DO NOT SUPPORT brain dumps! I think this is the reason that the MCSE NT 4.0 lost some of it's luster due to "paper" know it alls. Anyway, I didn't mean to start a Brain Dump battle, but it just bugs me. Anyway, please help with my question in any way that you can. Thank you in advance!

I haven't referred to the website you are talking about, but according to the MCSE Training Kit the minimum requirements are a Pentium based CPU (133 MHz), 32 MB RAM 64 MB recommended and a minimum of about 650 MB of the boot partition, and a VGA display adapter. Unless Microsoft changed the requirements recently, which doesn't make much sense, then those aforementioned should be considered the mininum for the 70-210 exam. Hope this answers your question.

Slinky is correct. However; the website does claim the min requirement is 64 MB of RAM not 32. The exam you'll need to remember the min as 32MB. That's Microsoft for you!
P.S. Originally they posted a min of 300MHz processor even though it was working stabley on a 133!

Jguy,
Slinky is correct. According to M/S, you need 64 meg of Ram, 650 meg free space on your hard disk (1 GB or more is recommended), VGA controller, Pent 133 (or compatable).
Now for reality, you can run 2000 Pro with only 32 megs of ram (as was first stated by M.S.). I'm doing it right now, and I know several others doing it too.
I agree completely with you regarding braindumps. The only thing they accomplish is to invalidate the certification itself as I know several people who simply memorized the test rather than learn the material.
