Should I worry about detailed SNMP questions on the CCDA exam? I have not worked with SNMP previously, and am having a rough time understanding its nuances as explained in the Cisco Press CCDA book...thanks.

It would be a good idea to know the basics of SNMP, for instance which commands in SNMP v2 are not in SNMP v1. You should also know about communities in SNMP (for basic security purposes).

I was fairly confused in regards to SNMP about which were SNMP operations and which were commands. In other words, separating 'Get', 'GetNext', 'Trap', 'Set' from 'Read' 'Write'. Sorry if that is not very clear, perhaps I am still confused. I did not see a question like that on the exam, but I would not put it past the CCDA to have a multi-answer question on something such as that.

To be more specifc, in my test bank I only had one question specifically about SNMP (regarding when traps are generated - sounds easy but all four answers were VERY similar). I did have a somewhat vague question regarding how to get traffic statistics. RMON, SNMP, CiscoWorks, and CiscoView were all options. However, those were really the only references to SNMP, RMON, or NMS that I saw.

Like I've mentioned in previous posts, you really have to know the material so you can elminite possible answer choices and have a better chance at answering a question correctly. I have the distinct impression that no one topic stood out on this exam (except case studies). Cisco finds a way to involve two or more topics into their questions.

Your best weapon will be knowledge! Good luck =)
