I can tell you my experience with 70-292. I am NT4 and 2000 MCSE. I did the 70-292 in Dec 2004 and failed it. I was so disgusted and upset at spending so much effort and failing, that I didn't bother again until this year. Big mistake, as now the testbank is in excess of 750 questions. Well, I failed it again by about 2 questions. I should mention as well that I have been working with 2003 for the past 4 years. I plan to try again, however with work demands, it is difficult to spare the hours and with the discontination date fast approaching, it's getting tougher. I have co-workers who have also failed it, and one that wrote it 3 times in a row before passing. In my opinion it is the most difficult exam I have encountered, but then again it is the first upgrade exam I have done. Usually I do them one at a time. I wish you good luck and recommend testking and the Transcenders. I truthfully did not find the Microsoft Press 2003 Upgrade textbook of much use, unless all of your 2000 knowledge has been retained, for it focuses on only the changes.

70-292 Passed, step forward to 70-296
Hi Bedfse:
Thanks for your friendly advice, I was passed the 70-292 in the mid of January, 70-292 is very difficult to pass.
I am moving forward to 70-296, I wish I can make it before 31,March,2008.

70-292 70-296
Passed the 70-292 Dec 11, 2007 and 70-296 Jan 28, 2008. Did not find the 70-296 as difficult as the 70-292, but it may be because I simply kept on studying the same material. Nonetheless I only had to do the 70-296 once. I have been teaching 2003 server since 2005 and it took at least 9 months of non stop studying to get both these exams. I can totally relate to the stress and work involved in this effort and I wish those still working on it extra good luck.

Yeah I really procreatinated on this one.. I'm on maternity leave right now hoping I can squeeze these ones in before March 31st. Does anyone know what happens if I write 292 (and pass), but don't do 296 in time? Would I be able to just write the 2 exams required for the jump from mcsa to mcse (if its still 3 exams.. I'm really out of the loop)?

70-296 passed !
Hi Everyone :
I was passed the 70-296 on Wednesday night, this is the last version of the MCSE, I will deeply remember this certificate.
This is the second upgrade from MCSE NT 4.0 in my life, when I compare to the first upgrade "70-240" The first one is very tough and almost kill my life.
I will focus my security & management certificate (CISSP, CISA, PMP, CCIE) and hope your guys are all pass the MCSE 2003 upgrade.
Good Luck !
MCSE (NT4.0, 2000, 2003)

I failed it Wednesday by about 3 questions. I am taking it tomorrow. I hope I pass (last day!). If not I guess I am starting all over again with the 2008 certs. Thank goodness for the 2nd shot deal. This wasn't that bad of an exam, but I haven't taken a MS exam in 7 years. There are a few trick questions on there that must have been weighted heavily too.
Am I right in thinking that if I pass this I get my MCSA 2003 and then I only need 2 more tests to get to the new MCITP (MCSE 2008)? If so I am glad I didn't worry about the 296 exam.
Wish I had tried this one earlier though!
