 Computer Setup for 70-290 Study
OK...this may sound like an anal question, but...well..it is.
I have access to several servers at work running Server 2003. However, I also want to set up my computer at home to dual boot using Virtual PC 2007.
My system currently has Vista Business on it. I'm wondering if I should reinstall WinXP and dual boot between Win XP and Server 2003 rather than Vista and Server 2003. I'm asking as some of the material in the Server 2003 book relates back to WinXP.

Dual booting will not help at all.
Just keep your existing Vista install and run Server 2003 and XP in the virtual machines.

Virtual PC
Microsoft isn't listing the server 2003 as a supported OS for Virtual PC 2007. Go to microsoft.com and look at the options. You may need to get yourself a test computer to run what you want.

Server 2003 works fine in a virtual machine as well as the host for the virtual pc application. I use this on a daily basis to teach this stuff.

To reduce unnecssary work or problem. I agree that you should go with vitual machine. It will not hurt you.

OK, lets expand the question:
I'm running pc with XP Pro, celeron 2.4, 1gig memory and plenty of disk space.
Can I run Virtual PC 2007 with Windows 2003 server and Vista?
I can increase the memory as needed.

I wasn't happy with virtual PC performance on a Celeron processor. But it will work. You might want to increase your RAM to 2 GB as well.

Svr recommended RAM is 256, but you might need a lot more than that. Celeron CPU might now work well at all, too slow.
