2 year absence

I feel ashamed. 2 years ago I took my Server+, and Security + exams and passed them, before that this site helped me get my CCNA recertification and before that it helped pass my original CCNA, A+ and Network+. I promised myself I would stay and help out others having problems and questions and return the favor. It lasted about a year. I can't believe it's been 2 years time seems to fly in the technology world. Now I'm back studying for a Cisco Recertification and where do I turn. The place I feel I abandoned. As I scroll thru the posts and it's over run by cheaters and actual exam ads. Things change, but I still see some familiar faces like Sexy Lexy, all I can is ask for forgiveness and hope for a little information. So how has the exam changed in 2 ½ years?

Hey Donald,

The CCNA forum has definitely been a roller coaster lately. SPAM-mania followed by periods of great posts and discusion, and then back to more never-ending spam for awhile. You never know what's going to happen next here....

Anyway, glad you're back! Did you take 640-607 then (I might have my #'s wrong). I can't speak from experience, but from what I've heard the 640-801 definitely went through a major overhaul from the old tests. 1-2 sims are present, EIGRP and NAT might be new topics. For subnetting, IP SUBNET-ZERO is assumed to be in effect, whereas I believe Cisco used to assume that you had to throw out the first and last network address when subnetting.

Have you decided on study materials?

I believe that was the number and yes you always took out the network and broadcast addresses. Nat was only just touched on but what I've read in the forums it's stated pretty heavly now. I have a good grasp of NAT though and the Sims should not be a problem I work on routers daily. I just need to fine tune what I call the theory. I used sybex before they still the best?
