Aced Test Today
Just passed the exam today. Almost got 100%.
I have been an infosec auditor for almost 10 years. This exam is less difficult than the CISSP exam but more complicated than the Checkpoint CCSE exams. Here are my tips:
1. Understand what you read. Do not cram concepts if you don't have the experience. Setup a lab with at least a Debian Linux, Sun Workstaion and Windows 2000 CA.
2. Know how to configure security in Solaris AND Microsoft Windows 2000. I'm a Microsoft guy but I have configured Sun workstations patches and servers. There were several daemon, /etc and encrypt questions!
3. I used Mike Passport's Security+ book. That's all you need to pass. Also it has some good practice questions on the CD.
Best of luck to those future candidates.Thank you for others in sharing their experience.
Xcel

Congratulations xcel.
Thanks for the summary of helpful ideas that you recorded for everyone else who'll be challenging that exam in the future. They all sound good to me.
Btw, which exam was it that you passed? Not that it hurt the quality of your contributions, but I just had not run across Some of the items you mentioned in Any of the exams I have attempted. (Was there some way I should have been able to answer my own question, but just couldn't see it in Plain Sight? If so, then please accept my excuse that sometimes I just can't see the obvious.)
Also, I noticed that the first two fellow-members who congratulated you are both Texans. I, too, am a native Texan (born in Comanche), but am just domiciled up here in snowy NY for the time-being. And, who knows, your other congratulators may be, at the very least, Honorary Texans, too! You are probably Blessed in a Special Way to have Texans looking out for you.

Good show
Though I am no Solaris guru - not even close! - I still passed this test with flying colors... so to all those out there who were intimidated by that part of the original post, fear not
This said, I second the idea of setting up a lab and learning with it!!!
