Passed 642-501

Passed secure exam today(860 is passing score). Studied intensly using Sybex Press and Cisco.com. Recommend downloading cmd reference for 12.2 IOS if you are not familiar w/ cmds. I think I did well because of my work experience using AAA, ACS, VPN, etc.

2 sim questions, mix & match, couple vpn, couple router mc, five or six sdm questions. If you know how to lock down your router properly you are half way there.

Hi peeps,

I need to recertify my CCNA in 1 year time . Offcourse I dont plan to resit CCNA.

CCSP has been on my mind for a long time.

Whats the natural path.
I want to start of with (IDS). Having bought the book by Osborne Press (CCAP - ALL IN ONE Exam guide). IDS seems pretty sweet.

Also plese correct me if im wrong in saying that by gettin CSIDS, my CCNA will automatically be renewed?

Now , how difficult is IDS. I have done a Information Security paper at University -- hence my interest in CCSP.

i need to site atleast another 2 win2k3 exams before I start studing for CCIDS.--- dammn work!!

Any comments .... fire all of em.
cheers.

You may want to go after your NP certification before your SP. If you are strong in routing / switching this should not be a problem. If you decide to explore your SP then start with the secur exam. I found it builds the foundation for the other exams.

Just my opinion..

Thumbs up

Thanks for that.

SECURE requires a lot more effort and work. But like you said it will give a good base.

How much time did you spend on it.
Btw Congrats on your exam.

I will make up my mid in next 6-7months time ...

PS: Is this forum dead.... not much happening here??
