Thoughts on how to study and TestKing.

Hi all!

Because the company i work for is in the process of migrating from NT4.0 workstation to Windows XP and Active Directory, they want me to become certified in XP and have some understanding of ADS. For the last part i have chosen 70-217, because i already hold three MCP 2000 certs.

I passed 270 on the 23rd of november.

For preparation i used the book from MS press (ISBN 0-7356-1429-6) and for exam preparation i used Transcender and TestKing. I knew beforehand that the questions from testking are pretty close to the real exam, still i was a little bit surprised how close.

I used testking version 7.2 which has 157 questions of which i did the first 100. On the exam i got 26 questions that were verbatim from this preparation. I later checked the remaining 57 and there were another 13 that i also got on the exam, so a total of 39!

Now i think exam preparation is fine, but i do think that when you take the real exam the questions should be new to you.

What do you think?

I like to get your thoughts on this. I think it is a bit of a grey zone, you study and know your stuff, but still you have seen a lot of questions beforehand.

I have decided not to use testking anymore and am going back to the old way. Study a book, do as much practise as you can - you now have great tools for this, like VMWare - take a Transcender and go for it.

I also like to know how you people study, any tips?

Thanks for making it this far and hope you're not disappointed.

Regards.
