newbie here
Just thought i would say hi.
I came accross this site by accident while doing some very boring homework for a sys admin course im doing.
Im thinking about doing either the MCSE or the LPI certification.
Im not sure which one to do or if i should go ahead and do both.

LPI has exams for linux certifications.
wwg - It really depends. The MCSE is for networking using Microsoft products, and LPI is for Linux. Are you familiar with Linux? Do you like it?
To make you the most marketable I would go for both certs.

sandy70000 - im studying at a tech college (just 3 more weeks and im finnished)
Paisleyskye - I am a little familiar with Linux although most of my experience has been with the GUI and with the command prompt.
When i get some spare time im going to put linux on my spare machine, so i can really learn it properly.

"thats supposed to say not with the command prompt - actually i dont even think they call it the command prompt in linux"
you're right, it's normally called the shell...but what's the diff?
to the original poster...I'd study the linux cert over a MS cert. however, the MS cert might give you a better chance at landing an entry level position, which is often the way to get into IT.
