DVD Problem Help

I have a dvd-rw burner as soon as I place a dvd in the drive it's properties changed to a cd drive and will not play the dvd. When I take out the dvd it changes back (in properties) to a dvd-rw drive.
I installed another dvd -rw burner and got the same results.
If I insert a dvd and restart the computer it will play the dvd, but as soon as the drive door is open smae thing back to cd drive. Any Help?

Does Device Manager show anything weird?

I've only worked with a few DVD burners, but luckily never had any problems with them.
