I am posting this seeking guidance and hopefully some insight. I have recently been thinking of taking a Train the trainer course and become certified as a techncal trainer (Comptia CTT+). The question is with my experience is it really sensible for me to persue this goal or am I jumping the gun. Below is a summary of my experience.

6 Years experience in IT
Experience follows the normal progression of expected Network Engineering path (As written in most tech articles). PC Tech-> Help Desk LVL 1 & 2 -> Network Admin -> Network Engineer. Currently I do technical training occasionally in a small environment with 5 to 10 users on light things like using Windows XP and Microsoft Office and I absolutely love it. My certs are listed in the profile. I am currently working on my BS in Comp. Network management which I am very sure will factor in at some point.

Any advice is truly appreciated.

That depends on what you want.

I used to be an MCSE Instructor, but it was never my goal to stay there. I've been back doing network admin for the last 3 years. I might go back to teaching again.

If you just want to do end-user training, I would consider it long and hard. It might be fun, but I remember the applications instructors literally made half of my salary. Applications instructors were making 30 - 35K, while I was making 65K.

In the long run, I think it would be better to stay in the field and stick to teaching on the side. I wouldn't switch to full-time teaching until you have your MCSE, CCNP, CISSP or some other higher level cert so you can do technical training.
