Nortan install
When going in to install setup; setup hangs with message "This MSI must be launched from setup". But we are in setup??? Has anyone encountered this problem and what should one do?

Things we are done (using Dell resource CD):
Wanting to uninstall Nortan. Turned off all
stuff in MSCONFIG in startup and uninstall
program. Program uninstalled. Windows logged
off normally. * That problem resolved. *
Went to reinstall Nortan. Program installed.
incorrectly saying "this mis file must be ran be ran through setup" (we were in setup).
Went and DID: %temp%
Click OK.
The Temp folder for the currently logged-on user
opens in Windows Explorer.
Do one of the following:
In Windows XP, use the mouse to select all files
and folders except for the Temporary Internet
Files folder.
You may have to hold down the Ctrl key while
selecting the files.
Press Delete.
Click Yes if you are asked to confirm the
deletion.
Went to reinstall Nortan.
Error "This MSI must be launched through setup"
Downloaded "Windows Script 5.6" (This acording
to symantic web site kb #2004-0203-1403-5036.)
Went to reinstal program.
Went and looked for MIS installer and program was
already on computer. Copied Dell Resource Cd
over to Desk Top on C drive and ran reinstall. continuing....

What version of Norton are you using?
What option are you selecting after the program interface loads?
Have you run setup from exploer?
Did you check task manager to see if other instances of (msiexec)? are running?
Is this a clean install, reinstall or upgrade previous version?
Did you reboot after receiving the error?
Have you checked the installation disk for damage?
Have you removed Norton completely from your system?
