hi buddiz
longest tym.Well ma harddisk is a maxtor 10G.Its just that lately it gives out this cranking sound whenever its running.

uhuh.......and

i am assuming you would like to know if your hard drive is going bad? if so then goto the maxtor website there is a utilty you can download called powemax i think .....anyways you can dwnload it to a floppy then boot ...then run it ...it will run a diag on your hard drive and will tell you if it is ok or failing.
if you were just making conversation then uhm........my wife gets kind of cranky too.

Any kind of sound like that usually means the hd is dying. I'm surprised w/ a 10G Maxtor. That's relatively new. Are you overclocking anywhere?
