Question December 31, 1969

i noticed a lot of members have December 31, 1969 in their profiles as their birthdays....i was wondering why so many people are using this specific date...or does this website default to that date for some people for some reason. does anybody know or wonder about this also?

lol

Software written 33 years ago and still in use today?

That's the punchline here.

Before it was used in Java, it was used as the UNIX epoch. You'll notice that UNIX time is the time since January 1, 1970.

(From Supertech's post in the link.)

quote:
To keep track of time, Java counts the number of milliseconds from the start of January 1, 1970. This means, for example, that January 2, 1970, began 86,400,000 milliseconds later.

Is this like "GetTickCount" in WinBatch?
