Well I bought the MSPress 70-228 book, and a $40 testking sample test and
spent a week reading the book , taking the test exams in the book and
testkings and passed first time. So toal spent was $205 including testing.

I really didn't think I was ready to take the test, but I had no clue how
the testing process went or how hard the questions were, so I signed up
thinking at least I will know how hard I need to study.

Thanks Neil for recommending the MSPress books and I think the testking
practice pdf test was well worth the $40. The pdf was 201 pages 146
questions and explained why each answer was right or wrong.

Lance Gamble MCP? what is the acronym for passed one not finished yet?

I did about the same. Congrats. I passed 228 three weeks ago and 229 just yesterday (some overlap in 228 and 229 by the way).
