 Cisco 1900 Switch for CCNP - BSCI
I was wondering if anyone knows if a 1900 switch is going to be enough hardware (as switchs go) for the BSCI ccnp exam? Some have said you must have a 2900 and some said a 1900 is enough. Would like to get a lot more options on this.

I would agree with the latter, the 2900 series would be better.
The 1900 series is coved in the CCNA and as the BSCI is a higher level in both content and skill then the 2900 series would be the one to choose.

For the CCNP, you should purchase a switch that uses Catalyst OS, instead of Cisco IOS. Some of the 2900 models (2948) do use the Catalyst OS. The CatOS is also referred to as "set-based". You will need to know how to configure a set-based switch for the CCNP.

Depends on what kind of operating system you want.
If you want Cisco IOS, you can get a 2900 XL 24 port switch.
If you want Catalyst OS, you can get a 2926 set-based 24 port switch.
Both of these models have reached their end-of-sale though, so you won't be able to get them new. I saw a 2926 CatOS based switch for 145.00 on e-bay. A 2900XL Cisco IOS based switch will cost you between 150 to 200 bucks.
One thing to remember: If you buy on e-bay, or from a 3rd party, you get no support from Cisco.

Not really worried about getting support from Cisco. I just want to get the right hardware that will give me the hands on experience I need.
I know from using the 2500 routers, it really helped me passing the CCNA exam.
