Dilemma

Like quite a few other posters on this forum, my dilemma is 2k or 2k3.
I am an MCSA in 2k, but I don't know if I should upgrade it to MCSA 2k3 now, or get MCSE 2k, then upgrade.

I guess the temptation is to get another qualification by doing one exam, but will studying 2k3 then going back to 2k be a bad idea?

The upgrade process is two tests for the MCSE, one test for the MCSA.

I would finish the 2000 MCSE. Not too many environments running 2003 yet.

Actually, there are many networks running W2K3.

I think your plan is good. Go ahead and take one exam to get another cert, then go back for MCSE. That way you can show on your resume that you know both platforms.

2K and 2K3 are based off of the same technologies. They just made about 10% of enhancements in 2K3. It's not like the MAJOR changes from NT to 2K.

Good luck!
