Weird Problem with Word 2002
I work at a school district where students have network drives to save documents, pics, etc. Recently students in certain areas of the school have been experiencing a weird problem when saving to the network drive from word. It will change what they had in their document and switch it to wingdings or boxes or other symbols. When they try to reopen their doc it is infested with these weird symbols. Would the service pack help with this problem. It doesn't seem like it is rampant because it has only been to a few students. What other info do you need to know?

Check a part of what I said. It happens when they are saving to whatever (a:, network) it also has changed it to the weird symbols when students are scrolling through their work.

Embed the fonts
The easiest way to fix the student's font problem is to embed the fonts. Tools -> Options -> Save tab -> Embed True Type Fonts. This should solve the problem.
