Brainbench - How do you rate?
Hi,
I have come accross a site called Brainbench (http://www.brainbench.com/xml/bb/co...er/alltests.xml) and they offer certifications (IT, business etc) for a really low price after passing an online test. I'm sure a lot of you Americans and Canadians have heard about Brainbench so I hope you can help me with some questions.
1. How do you value the Brainbench certs compared to CompTIA, Novell and Microsoft?
2. Have you obtained any Brainbench certs, and if so, how have they affected your chance on getting a job (any bad or good comments during interview or so)?
3. Is it worth it to take some Brainbench certs "on top" of CompTIA, Novell and Microsoft certs, or will it spoil you CV?
My personal opinion regarding Brainbench is the name itself. It sound kind of funny...They should have called it something else.
Cheers

Hi
Hi there,
I'm not BrainBench certified or anything, but I can tell you that there would be no way that BrainBench can replace other certs out there like Comptia, Microsoft, or even CIW.
Not that I'm trying to devalue BrainBench certs, but it's really hard to test someone's skill by testing them online unless the exam is absolutely hard like GIAC. GIAC requires the candidates to pass one pratical exam and 2 multiple choice exams before the certification can be awarded, and trust me the pratical exam is the HARDEST part. I found the multiple choice exams are somewhat easy (open book).
So for some people BrainBench might be the enjoyable way to earn certifications, but for me I'd rather stick with the others.
Just m2c,
Azyuky

Thumbs Down...
I have several Brainbench Certs and they are basically a non-player in the cert arena. I know several companies that use Brainbench to "validate" an applicant's knowledge... but even those "exams" are off the mark.
My opinion is don't waste your money.
