MSDE: Problem connecting to SERVER
Hi
I have 2 computers in my Lan Computer A is running win2kProf and Computer B
is running W3k Server. In computer A I have installed MSDE and computer B I
have VS-Studio installed, I am trying to use the VS-studio to administer the
MSDE, though I have MSSQL-enterprise installed in the Win3k. I do not have
any problem with the server. I have tried to use query analyzer to connect
to the msde without success, tried Enterprise Manager no success I am
getting the same error.
Though I can the msde- Server but I can not login I have used mixed mode
during installation, and after that I also verify this through the registry
by setting the value of the Login to 2 or 0.
But I have found out that the default port is 1433, I tried to telnet this
port from Computer B , I get the msg à Could not open connection to the host
on port 1433. Tried from Computer A the same error msg
Can somebody help me where I should enable this port? Though I am not sure
if this will solve the problem, but at least just want to be sure that I can
telnet this port.
Error that I tried to connect using query analyzer :Using SQL server
Authentication
Unable to connect server ComputerA. Server:msg 17 level 16, state 1
[Microsoft][Driver ODBC SQL Server ] [TCP/IP Socket] Server does not exist
or access is denied
Thanks in advance
