Has anyone taken online courses from ITT> I'm going to be taking the Information Security Systems course. What kind of market is there for a guy who has a Bachelors in information systems security.

I've got an AAS in Computer Systems Networking and have 5 years in the field working on just about everything that has a proccessor from Mainframes to ACD telephone switches to IBM cash registers. Also I have loads of network experience.

Currently working as a Point of Sale Tech for and IBM partner and they will be footing most if not all of the bill for tuition gi bill and pell pick up the rest of it.

I hate tech schools. They don't offer a proper Money:edcuation ratio and nobody else cares about your education but you. I have two AA degrees from Tech schools and now I'm back going for a BS.. Good luck.

I went to ITT-TECH for 6 months right after highschool(not the online) and at first I loved it until I relized that no one in my area really cared about the degree I was working for. By the time it actualled dawned on me I should be going else where for my education over 70% of the class already dropped it and headed to either other schools that offered credits that were transferable to "real colleges" or went on to attend a univeristy. I think if you already have two AS degrees then maybe you ought to look at seeing what can be transfered to a BS program instead but then again I don't really know anything about anything and just like to hear myself talk(or in this case see myself type)

The problem is that Tech schools are geared for hands on. Thats actually a great thing but that removes all of the credit courses. I'd rather just get the full education. Sucks about the money but what can you do?

If you want to get into IT (don't know why you would unless you enjoy punishment) do it the right way and go to a real college. Now a days you need the college degree. It's not like it was 5 years ago when you didn't need college. You only needed Certs.. Don't let anyone fool you. No degree = No Job. Go for the BS.. I'm heading for a Doctorate.. This when When I answer the help desk phone I can intmidate the caller.

" Hello, thank you for calling XXXX Networks. Dr MindMesh speaking how can I help you?"

My 2 cents.

I am attending a four year university. I am in the Bach Business Administration program focusing on CCNP.


I am taking 3/4 of my classes through a community college. The rest I waivered through certifications I already have attained. I only will have to take 2 classes in general and 6 classes in my core to graduate.

This is a real degree because it mirrors other degrees in the fact that 3/4 of it is general education. Some courses it has:

College Mathematics
Accounting
Business Law
Marketing
Ethics
General Math/Science, Humanities, Social Sciences credits(including psyc, soc)


I am taking this route because I can get my MBA within a year afterwards. I Will have my Masters degree in Information Technology Management with an MCSE 2000, and a CCNP.


I think ITT tech would be a bad route to go because none of the classes transfer to real degrees.

I'm also interested in attending ITT Tech. I've worked in Telecommunications for two years and have attended a local Jr. college where I received my basics. I'm unsure of what to do now. I know that a 4-yr. degree is the way to go, but I'm afraid that I will lose interest and drop out. I was interested in ITT because it appeared to be an accelerated program and two yrs. is about all I'm interested in. I was originally going for a BBA, then switched over to Info. Systems. This summer I worked for TEK Systems(fiberoptics)as a field tech. running cable and doing punch downs on Cisco Routers. I'm interested in finding something to study similar to this field. The asso. degree that I was interested in at ITT, is the computer network systems degree. Can anyone tell me anything more about this degree and its usefulness ??
