Unhappy Prometric Exam Computer Failure

Prometric Exam Computer Failure

Well, first let me tell you that, unfortunately, I have failed on 70-216. It was a quite difficult one, although I've had a problem with the computer at the test center, which was running Windows 2000 Pro.

My 70-216 Exam had 60 questions and 160 minutes (included 30 minutes for the foreign language), when I was at question 41 I pressed the Next button to go to question 42, it took a few seconds to load the question, and, at that time, I had 58 minutes left. But, instead of the question, I've got a RunTime Error (I don't remember which), and I was prompt with the Prometric box asking me to "Resume Exam" or "Exit". When I pressed "Resume Exam", for my surprise, I got the Windows Log On Screen!

I told the person who was responsible for the exam, and she said that there were no problem, she would enter my exam code again, and then I would be able to continue from the last question I've answered. Ok, she did that, Log on the computer, exam code, and then I've got Question 41, but I noticed that, instead of 58 minutes left, I had 24 minutes left! 34 minutes have gone! Unfortunately, I had some questions that I left behind, and the last 18 to answer. I went in a Hurry, but I left about 12 questions blank! It could make the difference between the Fail and Pass result.

Did it happen to any of you?

Now I expect not to be charged for another exam. I'm in conversations with the test center. But I'll try 70-216 next Tuesday again.

Thanks

Beatle

About the only thing you can try to do is talk to the customer service, probably via phone if you can. That was a pretty sizable loss, I think you might be justified in saying you could have passed. Either way, take it again soon and best of luck!

Thanks jeff_j_black, I'm expecting their answer tomorrow! Let's see what will come out of it!

In the meantime, I'll make some reviews for the 70-216, I hope to be Ok next time!

Thanks again

We've heard some horror stories before about the test sites, it's a real pain in the <insert appropriate word of your choice here>.

Most but not all members got a retake exam free, so I wish you luck on that.

The only problems I've had are, not having the exam downloaded when my test time is, and having to wait around for 30mins to 90 mins.

Computer failure

I use a VUE center and had a strange problem on 217 which impeded the review process. The center was very helpful and acted as my advocate regarding time.

I was able to review some of the questions but then decided to go for the score. Thankfully I passed...

BTW it was a Win98 machine! Good Luck on 216,it's also my next test!

oh my god

Beatle, I had the exact same problem, on the exact same exam, at the exact same question yesterday!!

Luckily I had around 2 hrs to go at that stage, so I just sat patiently while they tried to figure what was happening...

It was a box that came up saying cannot find somefile.dll with an OK button. It was on a blue border question.

It seemed to continue ok after clicking ok, but it wasted about 10 mins of my time.

I passed BTW Onto security

Hi Chemicalelvis, it seems that Prometric may have some error on its software, I don't know! I'm still waiting the response from the Test Center. They told me last week that they were in talkings with Prometric. Let's see if I'll have to pay for another exam! :-)

Thanks

Beatle
