Woohooo Gots Me a Jobs.....
Finally got a job as a tech at a local computer company. Took me over a year to just get a entry level tech position but it looks like it finally paid off.
However, I think I owe it mostly to my aggressivenesss the past two weeks. Ehnn, pay sucks starting out but they said it will increase ONCE I prove my value. Either way its expeirence and with the current economy I am just glad to have a job and even more a job that is in the computer field.

Very good! Keep us posted on progression through the ranks, too--I need encouragement. At this point, I'm glad to be a Certified Computer Tech employed as an Administrative Assistant rather than being an unemployed Certified Computer Tech!
I passed the A+ almost 6 weeks ago and haven't even started sending out tentacles in the community. I actually wanted to see if there is going to be an opening here for me in the IT dept., but I can see now that the only people who get to move are those with degrees, unless there is a critical need somewhere. AA's stay where they are, period. My job is getting pretty diluted as well--all the really challenging and fun stuff has been handed off to other people, indicating that this company expects this position to eventually be filled by someone who is not capable of doing what I had been doing for a year. Now that school has started again and things are going to be settling into a routine I can somewhat count on for about 3/4 of a year, I think it's time to start aggressively marketing myself as, not only an A+ certified computer tech, but a lifelong learner and go-getter, someone who is prepared to pay dues to move instead of expecting to start anywhere on the departmental ladder than the bottom.
Again, good luck, ChrisDFer, and good work.

Good deal. Go back and remind all those in the IT Jobs forum (the ones that cry about not having a job fall into their lap) that you have to apply yourself to find employment.
Again- mega props to you.
