I'm So Happy .... I Got A Job !!!!
WOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
!
I'M THE HAPPIEST PERSON IN THE WHOLE PLANET!!
I GOT A JOB!!!!!!!!
-----
Note: if you dont want to read my whole story, the above summarizes this topic, hehe, but if you want reassurement that hard work & perseverance pays off , please do so below ....
--------------------------
Well ok. I started doing an UNPAID internship as a Network Admin at a small company a year ago (June 2002), and finished it until recently. I never got a penny or incentive for all my work & in fact some times I had to pay parking out of my pocket & gas when visiting company clients for PC Support. Yes, I know I was exploited big time, but I was willing to sacrifice now & hopefully get something good later.
And I did this because I knew how important real-work experience is and because I knew that it is hard to get your foot in the door.
Unfortunately, the company goes bankrupt and everyone splits. So now i'm like "great all that hard work for nothing!".
So, I had been searching for a PAID computer job since about 9 months ago. And it was pretty tough because of the economy, very experienced IT people competing for entry level jobs, etc. For the first 4 months, I was getting no calls back.
So I put in A LOT !! of work into my cover-letter and resume. After doing so, I get 2 calls after applying to like 10 jobs.
...
Getting interviews was pretty encouraging, but gettting the job was another challenge of itself. Some jobs I know I wasnt qualified so it was kool. Other jobs, I was qualified & I could have almost sworn I would get it, but didnt. Others I was just unprepared or nervous & that pretty much disqualified me because I wasnt able to do a good Interview. In all, I interviewed with about 10 companies over a span of about 2 months ... which certainly gave me a lot of experience in terms of conducting the interviews.
.....
So, last friday, I interviewed with this computer company and the interview went quite well. I was able to get a hold of my supervisor & other co-workers to be my references and validate my employment with the company.
So, I get a phone call thursday saying "we would like you to come on board!"
NOW I AM THE HAPPIEST PERSON ALIVE!!
Well, what can I say? ... I am extremely happy and I really saw getting a job as something IMPOSSIBLE!! But I am a strong believer in God, and I constantly prayed for him to give me strength & help me persevere.
And this story doesnt show all the frustration, crying in desperation, and breakdown sometimes I went thru. But God came thru and I am so greatful to Him.
-----
The job is technical support at a medium-sized company. I will be doing tech support over the phone, test new hardware equipment on different OS's, go to computer expo's around the nation, etc. In other words, everything i love doing!!
The pay is very decent and GREAT BENEFITS!!
I start Monday and I cant wait!!
All I gotta say to you guys is ... DONT GIVE UP OR LOSE FAITH! I know I felt like that many times and thought I would never see this day. But, if you persevere, a door will be opened .... just keep knocking.
GOOD LUCK GUYS!!

Hey man, best of luck to you .... just remember, dont let those umemployment statistics get to your head, or negative comments by people .... there IS A JOB out there that is fit just for you.
Just do a good cover letter and resume, and prepare a lot before each interview.

Congrats man, it took me two years to get into IT, and proves once again, that perseverance pays out.
Whatever opportunities they offer you, take them all by the horns, and ride them well. Never turn a single one down.
