Sybex vs. Cisco Cirriculum...

Just finished the switching class by Cisco. Now I am reading the sybex book. Sybex keeps talking about the 1900 and the 5000, and cisco never really mentions the 1900. Cisco focuses on the 2900 and the 5000. Also, Cisco has a whole chapter dedicated to HSRP, and sybex just mentions it. So there is my dilema,... do I trust the makers of the exam (Cisco), or do I trust sybex? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

HSRP

was on my test, although I took the 505 version. I used the SYBEX books. I read through them and used the routersim simulators. Also, used the CISCO interactive mentor labs (IP Routing). After all this I followed it up with the CISCO press book and the exam certification guide.

All the prep helped, took one month to study and practically aced the test. My test hit really hard on BGP is about all I can remember

Capac,

About 1900 in Sybex and 2900 in Cisco Press, they both appear on the exam so you need to prepare yourself for both.

HSRP is not a big deal for Sybex but it is an ENTIRE chapter in the Cisco Press book. The strange thing is it doesn't appear on the Switching exam official topics: http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/10...ms/640-604.html
However it appears on the exam. Why that is, you got me, just one of those things the test taker has no control over.
So you need to study it as if it is listed on the topics.

Good Luck!!!

sukuvi,
thank you very much! I have been skipping over the 1900 stuff. Guess I have to do a little bit more studying.
