70-218 Q of the Day Friday 8/8
Here's one to chew on over the weekend. It's closer to the "real" M$ type of question. Good luck!
A small computer-training company has decided to install the DNS services on its network to replace the one currently supplied by its ISP. Their network currently consists of 300 Windows 2000 Professional computers. You are hired as a setup consultant to provide a solution for this small training company.
Required Results:
Provide an easy way to configure your client computers with the IP address of your DNS server.
Provide a backup strategy to ensure that your client computers will always have a DNS server available.
Optional Desired Results:
Your network must be able to resolve FQDNs to IP addresses.
Your network must be able to resolve IP addresses to host names.
Update the client computer information in DNS automatically.
Proposed Solution:
Install Windows 2000 Advanced Server and configure it with DNS and Active Directory.
You install and configure a second DNS server. This server will be configured as the secondary master to your first DNS server.
In your MMC DNS applet, you configure a forward lookup zone.
In your MMC DNS applet, you configure a reverse lookup zone.
Configure your client computers to use DHCP.
Your DHCP server has been configured to assign an IP address with a subnet mask, a default gateway, and the IPs of your DNS server.
Which result(s) does the proposed solution produce?
A)The proposed solution produces all the required results and all the optional desired results.
B)The proposed solution produces one of the required results and all the optional desired results.
C)The proposed solution produces all the required results and one of the optional results.
D)The proposed solution produces all the required results and two of the optional desired results.
E)The proposed solution produces none of the required results and none of the optional desired results.
See you Monday with the answer! Have a Great weekend!

I will try, not sure
D
If you make new DNS zone, by default there are no dynamic updates allowed.
OK, its weekend for me (5:00 pm), see you Monday!

Who uses windows for DNS? I would laugh my a.s.s off if an SE ever suggested using windows for a DNS server.
Sure windows has it's place but that place should be limited mostly to the desktop.

If your not here to participate in the QoD other than to knock it, then keep your comments to yourself.

D)The proposed solution produces all the required results and two of the optional desired results.
It produces all the required results but only two of the optional results. It does not update the client computer information in DNS automatically. You have not enabled dynamic update.
Good going everyone! See you later with another QoD!
