building computers
Does anyone know any good sites to buy computer parts from so I can build my own computer. I am trying to manage a job and getting certified and rent all at the same time and all I have is a slow old lap top and I think it would be best if I just built me own.
thanks,
Tim

www.newegg.com is good, or if you want to price shop there's always www.pricewatch.com
Just remember to add in shipping when you'll looking for the best price. Sometimes it's better to pay a couple bucks more to buy everything at one place then to get it all at different places and end up paying the S&H for every single piece.

Repost this same question in the Hardware forum or maybe Webmaster or enforcer (this section's moderator) can move this post to that forum for you. The Hardware forum is a recent addition to the site. You could also try the A+ forum too; because Yes, to answer your question, it does matter what kind of RAM you get.

Both jkhnwspec, and Delphis gave you some very good advice. As far as memory goes I would get my memory from Crucial, there memory is simply the best on the market. You might also wont to look into PC building sites such as http://www.Mysuperpc.com, which is constantly updated and gives recommendations about parts.Another site I like is Http://www.Waterwheel.com, which gives you gives you a lot of step by step photos. Have fun and good luck.

Thanks for the recognition Tennman and also Thanks for the links! I had to modify them first, seems the comma after each was included in original post. Nonetheless, I did get there. Thanks Delphis for his links as well.

Newegg rools me
I always use NewEgg for my online purchases now. I have used a number of sites in teh past but have not been dissapointed with these people. I have been able to return a couple of items that have not worked, and I have recieved next day shipments the very next day. They will ship same day for $2.99 if you order early enough. They have decent prices so they are my main on-line supplier now. Just got an MSI P4 mobo and a 2.6 Intel from them last week. It's running sweet...

Good luck!
