Exclamation online pop up ads

Okay, how do I get rid of all the pop up ads that keep coming at me when I am on line. I did not have a problem until someone using my computer clicked on a link they were sent. From that time on it has been a waterfall of ads. Help! HOw do I get rid of them.

Don't know how well it really works, being shareware, but might be worth a try:

http://software.xfx.net/utilities/popupkiller/index.php

You can get the trial version.

Or this one:

http://www.adsgone.com/

(And no, I am not endorsing any of these, just trying to help.)

Hope this helps!

If you noticed a flood of pop-ups after going to a link, then you may want to try adaware from http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/. Then get spybot from http://security.kolla.de/index.php?...n&page=download. Between the two, you should notice some improvements. I had something once that would bring up 5 pop-ups with google.

If it is just the normal pop-ups, then Mr. fixit has your fix.

dont spend any money on pop up blocker.

Download a free Alexa toolbar from Alexa.com, it comes with an excellent popup blocker.

Go to www.alexa.com scroll down to the bottom of the page, click on Alexa toolbar and then click on "Install Alexa bar"

In a couple minutes you will have a pop up blocker sitting on your internet explorer.

I use it myself and it's great!

Excellent advice webmaster. I think also pknoester could also benefit from installing SpyBot S&D to clean out any registry entries.

I recogmend Pop-UP Stopper. It works great! You can easily override it when you need to. The basic version is free and you don't have to attach it to a browser since it works in the backround. Some of those embedded spywares are harder to get rid of than a trojan horse! ARGH! some examples are xupiter, gator, Lop.com and others.

Thanks all! I downloaded and used adaware and spybot S&D and so far I've had my network enabled for about five minutes and no popups!! a record in the last week!
I'm happy.
