....I failed my first attempt, the score was 835 (panicked when seeing my first subnetting simulation question) and yesterday was my day, I got 936..yehaa!

nothing much to say...just wanna give some tips to future CCNA exam takers:

1. before you start key-in your candidate ID (to start the exam), write down everything or every single thing that you can memorize. The subnetting thingy is a MUST, have to write down. There is a lot of subnetting questions. Don't waste money, if you still can't master subnetting topic. Ok here's what I wrote right after I entered the lab.

(2 the power on n)

* why 510? there is (maybe no)question want you to calculate subnet mask for 458 host.

(you might get this for drag n drop)

update time for routing protocols.
RIP 30 sec
IPX RIP 60 Sec
IGRP 90 Sec
SAP
and the flushing time as well

holddown 180 sec
etc....
Those numbers can easily get mixed-up during cracking your head session..so it is best to write it down.

then...converting from dec to hexa
10=A
11=B
12=C
13=D
14=E
15=F

and ISDN members - TE1, TE2, NT1, TA
(they might ask example of devices)

I think that's it. I hope it means something to you guys. Don't worry, once you are in the room/lab, you are allowed to write anything on the fresh paper they gave. (prometric authorized ctr OK with this).

I also panicked on the first simulation but i have now more confidence. 822 was my score.
I will hit the exam soon.

You are right about writing everything down, time is money.

for the first simulation...they gave me AGAIN ip subnetting, something like:

"One company uses class C network i.e 192.168.101.81/27, calculate the first usable subnet at assign it to S0 and the second usable subnet to E1. The FIRST available ip should be used"

Answer:-
S0-192.168.101.33 255.255.255.224
E1-192.168.101.65 255.255.255.224

I think this is quite a favourite question. My "neighbour" who was sitting beside me also got this type of question. The only different is the ip. Same question with different IPs...that's all. Errr... infact, this is the question that I panicked during my first test. Don't get confused with class C addressing. On my first test, I put 192.168.33.1 on S0 and 192.168.65.1 on E1...and this stupid mistake fails my exam.

...Thank God, they "test" my readiness again on my second test. same type of question. No problem at all this time.

*TIPS-
Before you copy run start, make sure you can ping the other routers. It should be able to ping the other two routers.

Second simulation question was troubleshooting. Troubleshoot 3 routers one by one. Easy question...just router rip, its networks and putting in its ip address if i'm not mistaken.

uumm...forgot to tell y'all that the other 2 fill in the blank questions are also based on ip subnetting.

eg. what is the subnet mask for bla..bla bla..


so guys/gals MASTER YOUR IP SUBNETTING!!!
When you are on it, you'll be hoping that 60 subnetting questions on your CCNA test. I'm serious...it is fairly easy compare to memorizing those LMI, frame-relay, STP, bridging, access-list etc.
